Losing data can be an overwhelming thought to say the least. Computers store data, although machines have been known to fail. Even though the computer has become a lot more reliable over the years, it is virtually impossible to prevent computers from losing data.

You don’t need to take this lying down through, as you can indeed fight back. The ideal way to ensure that you never lose your precious data, is to back it up and keep backing it up. You should back up your computer data at least once a week, with once per day being the recommended way to do it.

In the past, and even some today, the floppy disc is the main method used to back up computer data. Even though they store a small amount of data, they are easy to access, easy to use, and nearly every computer has one.

Those of you who are looking to take things to the next level should look into backing up your entire hard drive. Backing up your entire hard drive is something that everyone should do, as it is indeed one of the best and most reliable ways to backup your computer.

When you create a backup of your entire hard drive, it will copy all of your information, so if something happens you’ll always have your data. Doing a full backup of your hard drive is great, although it can be very time consuming. To make matters worse, it is recommended that you create a backup at least once a week. On the other hand, if what you have on your computer is very important, you’ll find it more than worth the effort and time needed to back things up.

Another way you can back up your data, programs, and files, is to burn them directly to a data CD or DVD. This way, you can select which files or folders you want to keep. If you use CD/RW or DVD/RW disks, you can continue to add information to them when you create a backup. If you don’t use the RW (re-writable) media, then you won’t be able to go back and add more information to the disc.

Burning data directly to discs are the method of backup that most people are using these days, although backing up the entire hard drive is the preferred way of backing up your data. If you plan to use discs, you’ll need either a CD or DVD burner, which you can get for a great price these days. The discs are cheap as well, which only makes this method of backing things up that much better.

Whether it’s for your business or for personal reasons, you can’t go wrong backing up your data. You should always strive to back things up properly, as this will ensure that the data will always be there when you need it. This way, if you computer happens to crash or you lose everything on your hard drive, you’ll always have your backup files to go back to. This in itself can save you a lot of time, effort, and quite possibly even money - just for the simple fact that the files are all but a copy away to restore.

There is no mistaken the fact that over a million laptops have been stolen over the years in the United States alone. Anytime a laptop is stolen, chances are that it won’t be recovered. If the information wasn’t backed up, then the owner will be left with no laptop - but more importantly - no backed up data either.

Just like you can with desktop computers, you can also create a backup of the data on your laptop as well. You can use online services, back it up remotely, or use several other methods to ensure that you keep all of your data. Preserving your data is something you should really look into, especially if you have business material on your laptop.

Although it may take you a little bit of time, you’ll have the satisfaction in knowing that your data is there if something should happen.

Whether it’s for your business or personal use, you can’t go wrong backing up your data. You should always create a backup of your data at least once a month, even more than that if you have a lot of important information that you add to your laptop on a frequent basis.

Mouse Cleaning Tips

The mouse is the most commonly used pointing device in windows environment on the personal computers. That is why mouse required extra care as compare to the other parts of the computer. You should clean your mouse when you feel the mouse is slow to move in different directions or making some strange movements.
• First disconnect your mouse from the back side of the computer.
• Now read the mouse manufacturer manual about your mouse model on how to safe and clean it.
• Open the ball cover from the back side of the mouse and wash the ball then dry it with cloth.
• Now clean dust in the inner side of the mouse specially removes the dust on the rollers with lightly dampened cotton bud. You can use the compressed air for this purpose.
• At the end dry it and Re-assemble your mouse then connect with computer.

Monitor Cleaning Tips

When you noticed your monitor is looking yellowish and its screen to be difficult to read then you can understand about inner side of your monitor as dirty as outside.
• Never place your monitor on the ground, always use computer table or shelf for this purpose.
• First unplugs your monitor power from the electrical outlet.
• Never open the cover of the monitor. First use the compressed air and start clean from back to front of your monitor case.
• Use lightly dampened cloth or spray any cleaning fluids on the monitor body and use paper towel to dry it. Do not spray any fluids near the ventilation hole on the monitor. Use any glass cleaner to clean the monitor screen with soft cotton cloth.

Like many other audio players, Windows Media Player rushes out to the Internet to find information for you when you play a CD. Some of this information, such as song titles and album art, is useful, but Media Player also identifies your copy of Media Player to the site where it's getting data. Why? According to the help file, "The server uses this unique identifier to monitor your connection. By monitoring your connection, the server can make adjustments to increase the playback quality and to alert you about events that occur when receiving streams over the Internet."

If you're disturbed by this exchange of information, here's how to stop it. In Windows Media Player, click Tools > Options and go to the Player tab. Notice the option that says "Allow Internet sites to uniquely identify your player?" Turn it off.

Rojak - Malaysian Salad

Rojak means a mixture of many different things. It is the same as the salad you can find in western countries. This dish has been very much appreciated by malaysian. There are many types of Rojak, malay Rojak, indian Rojak, Penang Rojak, fruits Rojak, Rojak with cuttlefish and others.

In Malay Rojak, ingredients used are yau cha kway, pieces of turnip, cucumber and pineapplesare mixed with a sweet gravy with peanuts. You may add in chicken meat and chili.

While in indian Rojak, the ingredients are choosen by the eater from a wide variety of indian food. The food are dipped into a hot, spicy sauce before it is eaten.

Penang Rojak is a famous dish in Penang. Fresh pineapple, cucumber, sweet turnip (bangkwang), star fruit, green mangoes, pink guavas, bean curds (tau kua) are mixed in hoi sin sauce, prawn paste (hae ko), white sugar, chili powder, shrimp paste (belacan) and finally garnished with pounded roasted ground nuts.

Rojak Sauce, the sauce is made from a thick black molasses-like paste called haeko, pronounced 'hey-ko' or Prawn Paste [Otak Udang, in Malay]. This is combined with palm sugar, tamarind paste and other ingredients. Pineapple, apple, guava, green mango, jicama and cucumber are tossed in this sauce with crushed peanuts and sesame seeds. Thai Bird chilies are added to give this exotic salad a fiery kick!

Rojak could be easily available in hawker centers and food courts. The price is reasonable. Therefore, it is a great value for your money.

International trade, especially seaborne trade, has traditionally been the lifeblood of Malaysia. Today, 95% of the country's trade is by sea via Malaysia's seven international ports - Penang Port, Port Klang, Johor Port, Port of Tanjung Pelepas, Kuantan Port and Kemaman Port in Peninsular Malaysia and Bintulu Port in Sarawak. Hong Kong-based Cargonews Asia placed Port Klang and Port of Tanjung Pelepas among Asia's top ten best seaports and top ten best container terminal operators.

Port Klang's central location and the government's emphasis on making the port a national and regional hub has resulted in an increasing volume of cargo.Port Klang recorded 4.5 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) for 2002, which ranks it the top 11th in the world. Port Klang's Westport has excellent deep water facilities which allow the world's largest ships to dock without any difficulty.

Malaysia's newest port, the Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), at the southern tip of Peninsular Malaysia, commenced operations in late 1999. With the location of Maersk-Sealand's and Evergreen's transhipment facilities at PTP, the port is expected to achieve an annual cargo volume of 2.5 million TEUs in 2003. Another port, Kuantan Port on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, is also undergoing a 30-year expansion to meet increasing throughput from the massive petrochemical complex along the Kertih-Gebeng corridor.

Besides the physical infrastructure being in place, the electronic data interchange (EDI) in Port Klang, Penang Port and Johor Port has allowed speedy clearance of cargo with the electronic transfer of documentation.

Compatibility Mode Make older programs run in Windows XP

If you're having trouble running older programs originally developed for previous versions of Windows, you're not out of luck. Luckily for consumers, Microsoft built Compatibility Mode into XP. Compatibility Mode allows you to run a program using the shell of the original program it was developed for.

Here's how to access a program's Compatibility Mode in XP:

Find the executable or program shortcut icon you'd like to run.
Right-click the icon and select Properties.
Click the Compatibility tab and place a checkmark next to the text labeled "Run this program in compatibility mode."
Select the operating system that the program was originally intended to run on.
You may need to fine-tune the three fields under "Display Settings" if an older program requires 640x480 resolution or 256 colors.
Click Apply.
Try starting the program after making these changes. If it still gives you trouble, try a different operating system. If the program was written for Win95 and worked fine in Win98, there's nothing that says it still won't work fine with Win98.

Get The Drivers You Need

Visit Windows Update (XP Only)
Look at the left hand pane and under Other Options click Personalize Windows Update.
Now in the right hand pane check the box - Display the link to the Windows Update Catalog under See Also
Below Choose which categories and updates to display on Windows Update - make sure you check all the boxes you want shown.
- Click Save Settings
- Now look in the left hand pane under See Also click Windows Update Catalog and choose what you're looking for. Choose either MS updates or drivers for hardware devices.
- Start the Wizard and off you go.

There are a TON of drivers there. I highly recommend you take a look at this page prior to downloading something from the web.

Save Your New Downloads

Since some people are still using modems and since MS is issuing patches right and left for XP wouldn't it be nice if after you downloaded all the updates you could save them? Well, you can and MS has provided a way for you to do it.
Here's How:
- Logon to Windows Update
- Choose Windows Update Catalogue (left hand pane)
- Choose Find updates for Microsoft Windows operating systems (right hand pane)
- Choose your version and language then Search
- Choose one the following:
- Critical Updates and Service Packs
- Service Packs and Recommended Downloads
- Multi-Language Features (0)
- Once chosen simply click on what you want to download and then back at the top click Review Download Basket
- You are taken to the next page where at the top you can specify where the downloads are to be saved.
- Click Download now.

Each patch will make a directory under the root of the folder you saved them to. Once finished you need to go to where you saved the file (s) to and then simply install all your patches.
Read-me's are available in each patch section so you know which one you are installing.

One of the most popular dishes in malaysia is " Nasi Lemak" . Nasi Lemak is the most famous among the malay food. it is hot, spicy and rich.

The Nasi Lemak, that is rice cooked in coconut milk and flavoured with cloves and pandan leaves, is an all time favour. it usually topped with chilli sambal (hot and spicy gravy) and fried ikan bilis (anchovies), sliced hard - boiled eggs, and cucumber. you can also add in some peanuts if desire.

Where can you find it ?

Nasi Lemak can be found in many restaurants (malay, chinese and indian) or at the food stalls lining the streets in typical Malaysian style. Many 5 star hotels serve Nasi Lemak for breakfast too. Sometimes, you can find Nasi Lemak packed in banana leaf. It could cost at little as $1.00 (Ringgit Malaysia).

Nasi Lemak is very famous for breakfast, lunch or even supper. a "must-try" food if your are a foreigner. You will love it!!

How to make Nasi Lemak and Sambal Ikan Bilis
I ) Nasi Lemak
Ingredients:
1 cup rice
3 screwpine leaves
salt to taste
1 grated coconut

Method
1. Clean the rice and drain
2. Squeeze out 2 cups of thick coconut milk with screwpine leaves. Add in salt.
3. If you desire, you can also add in some sliced shallots and ginger.
4. Serve this rice with sliced hard-boiled eggs, cucumber and sambal ikan bilis.

II) Sambal Ikan Bilis
Ingredients:
1 bombay onion

1/2 cup dried ikan bilis ( anchovies )
1 clove garlic
2 tbsps tamarind juice
4 shallots
8 dried chillies
Prawn paste ( belacan) ( Optional )
Salt and sugar to taste

Method:
1. Fry the ikan bilis until crisp and put aside.
2. Grind the prawn paste together with shallots, garlic, deseeded dried chillies. Slice the bombay onion into rings.
3. Heat 2 tbsps oil in a pan and fry the ground ingredients until fragrant. Add in the onion rings.
4. Add tamatind juice, salt, sugar.
5. Cook, stirring occasionally until the gravy thickens.
6. Add in the ikan bilis and mix well.
7. Serve with steaming hot Nasi Lemak.

Malaysian Satay .. definitely a "Must Try" !

Satay is a simple version of a traditional Malaysian favourite. it is very delicious, spicy and very popular over the country.

It's spiced barbeque meat - choices of beef, lamb, chicken or even rabbit, marinated in spices and grilled over charcoal, served with peanut sauce, cucumber, onion and rice cube or ketupat (rice cake).

Satay can be found in many restaurants, malay or chinese or at the food stalls. Many 5-star hotels serve Satay too. It is especially famous for dinner or supper. It could cost from RM 0.50 to RM 1.00 per stick.

Don't miss this speciality dishes if you are a foreigner. You will like it!!

Chicken Satay
Ingredients:

4 chicken legs and thighs or 4 chicken breasts (deboned)

Spice Paste:

1 teaspoon of coriander powder
2 stalks lemon grass
6 shallots (peeled)
2 cloves garlic (peeled)
4 tablespoons of cooking oil
1 teaspoon of chili powder
2 teaspoons of turmeric powder (kunyit)
4 teaspoons of Kecap Manis (ABC brand from Indonesia recommended)
1 spoon of Oyster Sauce (Lee Kam Kee brand recommended)
Bamboo skewers (soaked in water for 2 hours to avoid burning)
1 cucumber (skin peeled and cut into small pieces)

Method:

Cut the chicken meat into small cubes. Grind the Spice Paste in a food processor. Add in a little water if needed. Marinate the chicken pieces with the spice paste for 10-12 hours. Thread the meat on to bamboo skewers and grill for 2-3 minutes each side. Serve hot with fresh cucumber pieces.

Satay Peanut Sauce
Ingredients:

1 1/2 cup dry roasted peanuts (unsalted)
1 cup water
1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce (Kecap Manis)
1 1/2 tablespoon sugar (palm sugar preferred)
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup oil
1 heaped tamarind pulp (soaked in 1/4 cup water for 15 minutes, squeeze the tamarind pulp for juice and discard the pulp)

Spice Paste:
6-8 dried red chilies (seeded and soaked in warm water)
3 cloves garlic
3 shallots
2 lemon grass (white parts only)
1 inch ginger (galangal preferred)
1 tablespoon coriander powder (optional)

Method:
Crush the peanuts coursely with mortar and pestle or mini food processor and set aside.

Chop the spice paste ingredients and blend until fine. Heat oil and fry the spice paste until aromatic and smell spicy. Add the peanuts, tamarind juice, water, sugar, sweet soy sauce and stir thoroughly. Simmer in low heat while continue stirring for about 3 minutes until the peanut sauce turns smooth. Serve at room temperature with the satay.

Exporters in Malaysia can also take advantage of the credit facilities offered by the Export-Import Bank of Malaysia Berhad (Exim Bank), while another institution, Malaysia Export Credit Insurance Berhad (MECIB), offers export insurance cover and guarantees.

To complement Malaysia's financial system, the government has established an international offshore financial centre (IOFC) on the island of Labuan located off the north-west coast of Borneo. Over the last three decades, Malaysia has developed a large pool of ancillary and supporting industries that was initiated with the entry of MNCs into the country. These MNCs, especially those which pursued active vendor development programmes, have contributed greatly towards the development of local small-and-medium scale industries (SMIs) that are highly competent and competitive with some even penetrating export markets.

Most large Malaysian companies have been involved in trade and industry for generations, and many have excelled in international and regional markets. Thus, foreign investors seeking joint-venture partners in Malaysia will be able to select from a wide range of companies to find one that matches their needs.

For one, tea contains antioxidants which prevent or slow down the oxidative damage to our body. This simply means lowering the risk of suffering from various diseases such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease.

Tea also happens to be much healthier than coffee because in terms of caffeine content, you only get about 30 to 40mg per cup compared to coffee which has about 135 mg. of caffeine.

Another benefit of drinking tea is its ability to strengthen your immune system. For instance, no one knows yet the cause of the common cold but it still happens. If you drink tea regularly, your immune system will be strong enough to prevent you from getting this contagious infection.

Although water is the best thing to drink whenever you feel dehydrated, studies have shown that tea can provide the same thing as well. This is because tea is a diuretic making you urinate regularly so there is a balance between what goes in and out of your body.

Tea does not have any calories unlike those found in energy drinks. This is because it does not contain any sugar. The only time that you will be ingesting calories is when you decide to add sweetener or milk with this drink

Strong aura of spiritualism in Tanjung Sutera Resort

I was reading the newspaper today when I came accross this Resort which is situated in Johor, Malaysia. Here I am questioning where to go for the weekend and this beach resort is practically near me !

As commented by one of the visitors ( he is a Qiqong master from China ) : “The qi here is stronger than Indonesia’s Bali and Cambodia’s Angkor Wat combined.” Since then, he has come back regularly – not alone but with others in tow.

But his is not the only spiritual group making annual pilgrimages to this secluded resort on the east coast of Johor. A group of yoga practitioners and members of a Catholic church, both from Singapore, have made the resort their weekend retreat.

The resort is called Tanjung Sutera Resort, which is situated in Sedili, Kota Tinggi in Johor, Malaysia.

Though it’s not a typical Johor destination, Tanjung Sutera Resort is not hard to find. From South, take the Kota Tinggi-Mersing route and look out for Tanjung Sedili sign. Turn towards Kuala Sedili Besar and you will see a signboard to Tanjung Sutera Resort at the end of bridge.

Time for the beach in Kuala Sedili..

From Mersing, drive south to Kota Tinggi. About 20km from Tanjung Leman, there is a left turn bearing the resort signboard. However, if you miss this turn, there is another right turn before the bridge at Kuala Sedili Besar.

You have 160 characters here to “sell” yourself. Take some time over it and do it well. Don't simply enter a bunch of keywords as they appear totally uninteresting to people, although they may get you found. Use keywords by all means, but start your Bio with the words “I am” and then describe yourself.

So you might put for example :-

"A social network community to connect Malaysians and International networkers - social media site with blogging and forums utilities for members"

Now that description is less than 160 characters. Using the "right" terms in your bio will have you coming up in search results when people are looking for other like minded individuals to follow. As you can see, it is worth taking some time to get the bio right.

Enter your web site name or blog here if you have one. Make sure you include the http:// prefix to the address.

Your location is next and is also important so people can search and find others in their same area. It will also be important to you if you are chasing rankings on Twitter as users are ranking by their locations.

Protect Updates

This is included if you want to have a private account and you have to approve followers. NEVER turn this on if you intend to use Twitter to meet new people. They just couldn't be bothered requesting permission to follow you unless they know you personally.

Twitter is best described as a micro blogging platform. You are limited to 140 characters each time you do an update, which initially, may seem a small amount. However, as you become more experienced, it's just amazing what you can fit into 140 characters.

That said, Twitter is much, much more than that. It is like one huge global chat room, but then again, it doesn't have to be. It all depends on how many people you follow on Twitter. If it's in the thousands, then your “Tweetstream” will be running fast and furious with everything that's coming in. If you are only following a few hundred, or even less, then things are much easier to keep up with.

Twitter is also a great way to meet new people online, particularly those with similar interests to you.

How To Set Up

Setting up on Twitter to have your own account is easy, but there are a few things that you should be aware of when organizing your account. This can apply even if you already have an existing account too, so consider these tips and it can improve your entire Twittter experience.

The first thing to do if you don't have an account is go to http://www.twitter.com which is the home page of Twitter. You will be asked to either login or register. If you don't have an account, then of course you will need to register. So let's go through the registration process and explain it all here.

Registration

The Twitter screen will ask you for your first name and last name and will then check this is entered correctly. A green tick will appear next to the box.

The next box asks you for a user name and this is where you need to give some thought to how you are going to represent yourself on Twitter. You should remember that you can set up more than one account on Twitter, but you will need a different email address for each one.

Now this is where the thinking bit comes in. The first account you register should always be in your own name if you can get it. Naturally, common names like MalaysianOnline (there are no spaces in usernames) will already be taken. However it is possible to get variations on your own name such as Malaysian_Online, or Malaysian_Online23 or some variation like that. You can only use an underscore in a username. Hyphens are not permitted in the field.

It isn't absolutely critical that you register your own name, but I would advise you do if you can, particularly if your name is an unusual one. I'm sure the last thing you want is someone else impersonating you on Twitter, or anywhere else for that matter.

If you wish to register a business name, then you can do that of course, but make your you use your own name in the sign up process so you are identifiable and connected with the business name you register. The concepts and reasons for operating under each type of registration will be discussed later.

You are now asked for your email address. Email addresses are linked to accounts and you will only be able to use your email address once. For every account you register, you will need a different email address.

The last thing to do is to fill in the Captcha letters and then click on Create My Account.

The next screen will ask if you want to add any of your friends from the popular web based email programs. You can do this later if you wish.

The next screen presents a short list of people who Twitter asks if you would like to follow. Choose some if you like, but I wouldn't bother. I prefer to find my own friends on Twitter.

When you click Finish, you will then be taken to your very own Twitter account. You are logged in and ready to go!

How to create an account with Paypal ?

1. Go to www.paypal.com

2. Sign Up, click HERE

3. Choose the Account Type.

If you choose :

Personal Account – You can only shop online and send money online.

Premier Account – Ideal for casual seller at Ebay. Able to accept credit/debit cards and other payment types at a low fees.

Business Account – Ideal for those who would like to do businesses online. Able to accept credit/debit cards.

Preferable that you choose "Premier" or "Business" accounts !!

4. Fill in the forms as shown in the above video accurately.

5. Paypal will send an email to your email address for you to activate your accounts.

5. Check your email. You will find one from Paypal. Click the link in the email to activate your account. You will be brought back to the Paypal's site again.

8. Enter your PayPal password ( as per #3).

From the First Part ...

Once you "activate" the link sent by PayPal in your email, you'll be brought to login to your Paypal account.

In your Main Account Area, you will see that your account status = UNVERIFIED !

What does this mean ?

With an UNVERIFIED status, you will have a slight difficulty to transact online. You should have at least a Debit or Credit card in hand to verify your account with Paypal.

For Malaysians, you can apply for credit or debit card from all major banks but I would recommend :

a) Public Bank Visa Electron - application will take approximately 2 weeks

b) UOB ATM Visa Electron - application will take approximately 2 weeks

c) TuneMoney.com Visa Debit Card ( the latest and you can apply online ). Application will take approximately 1 week

d) Al – Rajhi i-Debit card. Application will take a FEW HOURS ONLY !

Adding Credit/Debit Card to your Paypal Account

1. Login to your Paypal account using the email ID and password.

2. You'll be brought to your Main Members account.

3. Click ADD Add Credit Card

4. Fill in your credit/debit card details in the "ADD CREDIT CARD" link.

Note : Your First Name and Last Name will appear automatically.

Nota : The address that you used to apply your Credit/Debit card MUST be the same with the address that you register with Paypal at Part I !!

5. After completion, just click the ADD CARD button.

If there are no problems with the data that you fill in, Paypal will notify that you have successfully added the card. CONGRATULATIONS !!

However, you are not done yet. Follow the next step to enroll in the Expanded Used Program. This is just a way PayPal wanted to ensure that you are the RIGHT OWNER of the credit/debit card.

Enrolling in the Expanded Use Program

As per the image below, enrolling in the program takes 3 easy steps :

1. Once you click at “GET NUMBER” ,you are authorising PayPal to charge USD 1.95 to your credit/debit card. But, do not worry since it will be refunded ! The charge to your credit/debit card is just a way PayPal wanted to ensure that you are the RIGHT OWNER of the credit/debit card.

2. Now .. click "Get Number" !

3. Your are done for the day !

4. Normally, it will take approximately 3 to 4 business days for the charges to appear in your Credit/debit card statement with the 4-digit Expanded Use Number !

Note : Preferably, apply a credit/debit card with online facilities. This will shorten the time for you to get the 4-digit Expanded Number from PayPal. If you do not subscibe to online banking, you will need to wait for your credit/debit card statement from your respective banks.

Getting your VERIFIED status !

Once you receive your number (check your credit/debit card statement either offline or online), login to your PayPal account to complete the Expanded Use Enrollment.

1. Login to your Paypal account.

2. At the Main Members area, click the "Complete Expanded Use Enrollment".

3. Key in the 4-digit number and SUBMIT to PayPal.

4. Congratulations !! You have successfully VERIFIED your card!

4. You will then see that your accounts' status is already changed to "VERIFIED". Now, you are able to receive payments via PayPal !!!

USD 1.95 will be refunded once you use/transact via PayPal !!!
